ABOUT THE INSTITUTE FOR POLITICAL STUDIES

The Institute for Political Studies is a research institution based in Belgrade with a tradition longer than half a century. It was founded on January 4, 1968 as a research unit within the then Higher School of Political Sciences. In 1978, the Institute obtained the status of an independent research organization.

Today, the Institute is a modern institution capable of conducting complex social research. In 2023, nine research centers and a Library were established within the Institute. It participates in national and international projects and follows the development of political science, culture, and the contemporary geopolitical situation.

The Institute conducts empirical research, public opinion studies and data processing. Our interdisciplinary team includes political scientists, lawyers, sociologists, psychologists, communication experts, economists, culturologists, philosophers and historians.

The publishing activity is rich: several scientific journals, monographs, thematic and conference proceedings. Our Repository aims to cover the entire publishing output and present it to the wider public.

By the decision of the Accreditation Board of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia on June 17, 2025, the Institute was accredited as a research organization.

Within the reaccreditation, the Institute expanded its scientific activity to four fields of social sciences: political science; legal sciences; sociology; philosophy.
