The collection “Perspectives of Political Science in Contemporary Society III” is the result of a scientific conference held in Belgrade on December 5–6, 2024, organized by the Institute for Political Studies. The third conference is a continuation of the established tradition of holding scientific meetings of young researchers. It was improved compared to the previous ones by including research associates and researchers with equivalent teaching titles. The conference was attended by 23 speakers from more than ten institutions across Serbia, while the collection includes 19 manuscripts from various scientific fields that form the foundation of contemporary political science.
In the introductory paper of the collection, the editors (M. Stojčić and S. Simić) analyze the “return” of the theory of realism in international relations as an obstacle to achieving lasting peace based on two case studies. Among them are the armed conflicts that currently occupy the most attention, both in the domestic and international scientific communities. The rest of the collection, thematically, includes works that can be grouped into the following sections: 1) National (and) democratic challenges: Electoral strategies, public administration and public policies (N. Jovanović; N. Ilić; M. Ilić; N. Nešić); 2) Perspectives of contemporary international relations in the context of polarization and armed conflicts (A. Bogićević; I. Dunjić; L. Stojanović and J. Marković; Đ. Radovanović and I. Baščarević; N. Tucakov); 3) Challenges of contemporary political theory and philosophy (I. Matić; R. Lompar; M. Vasić; S. Anđelković); 4) Relations between states in the Western Balkans between tensions and cooperation (N. Spasojević and A. Matijević; N. Purić; D. Lazović; I. Mirosavljević; L. Petrović).
The organizers of the Proceedings would like to express their special gratitude to the founders of the Conference and the Organizing Committee, as well as to the Director of the Institute, Dr. Miša Stojadinović, for their continuous support and contribution to the improvement of this important scientific platform. They also express their gratitude to the reviewers, as well as to all conference participants, for their engagement and contribution to the quality of the meeting.
