Rapaić, Stevan, Andrea Matijević (eds.). 2022. Local Economic and Sustainable Development in Serbia. Belgrade: Institute for Political Studies. ISBN 978-86-7419-362-4

Summary

The main goal of this study is to bring the concept of local economic development and local sustainable development closer to the readers, but also to provide answers to several basic questions, such as the question of the framework of local economic development and local sustainable development in Serbia and the results of local governments in achieving this type of development goals. The problematic focus of this research is the evaluation of the success of the current process of managing local economic and sustainable development in Serbia and the identification of the main obstacles that have reduced the achieved results.

Starting from the premise that only economic development that is also sustainable can be considered successful local economic development, the authors synthesized these two concepts and, using the example of Serbia, presented the current policy of local economic and sustainable development, i.e. the methods of managing local economic and sustainable development in Serbia. The focus of this research endeavor is to determine how these globally significant concepts have been applied in Serbia, as well as the challenges and achievements in these processes.
