MODELS OF DAILY NEWSPAPERS IN THE 21ST CENTURY THE CRISIS OF THE PRESS AND STRATEGIES FOR SURVIVAL: THE CASE OF SERBIA

This article represents a sublimation of the findings and the conclusions drawn by the same author (Slobodan Penezić), that came during the preparation of a doctoral thesis, defended at the Faculty of Political Sciences (University of Belgrade) in October 2018. It’s a multi-year research, with theoretical and empirical character, which gives a specific insight into the world of media and journalism today, seen through coordinates made of the most frequent topics in this area. On the other hand, the analysis was carried out from the part of the media industry (newspaper) that is threaten the most, and therefore it experienced the most visible changes of their effects, which are, however, often ignored and mystified as the consequences of various reasons. The ultimate goal is the formulation of an optimal model of the functioning of the media today, which would provide stability for all those media outlets whose livelihoods are most threatened today. With this aim, the study examined and then proved, the general hypothesis, which suggested that the formulation of a successful long-term business model for the stability of media is directly conditioned with the preponderance of the positive impact of media management over the negative impact of external factors by the media.
