About journal
The “Archive” was founded at the beginning of the 20th century (the first issue was published on February 26, 1906) in a period when the internal and external conditions in the Kingdom of Serbia, a young independent state that was growing economically, politically and culturally, favored an optimistic view of the national and the European future. Professor Slobodan Perović, the founder of the Kopaonička School of Natural Law, pointed out that the “Archive” was created not only as an expression of the need to build “Serbian cultural identity”, but also as a natural consequence of the times in which great men like Jovan Cvijić, Jovan Žujović lived and worked, Stevan Mokranjec, Gligorij Geršić, Mihailo Petrović Alas, Stojan Novaković, Nikola Pašić. On its centenary, for insufficiently known reasons, the “Archive” withdrew from the “scene”. There were attempts to publish the magazine regularly until 2013. After that, professor Sima Avramović, then dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Belgrade, and Dr. Živojin Đurić, director of the Institute for Political Studies in Belgrade, with the power of personal authority, in one moment returned the journal to the list of ranked scientific journals. Since then, “Archive” is slowly but surely returning to its original value, on which it rested.
The journal is published four times per year.
